About Summit Snowshoes

Founded in 2004

Summit Snowshoe Company was founded by a Family of outdoor enthusiasts who shared a passion for winter with 50 years of experience in the snow sports industry. The journey started with a need to haul heavy equipment on frozen lakes for ice fishing along with our annual Yurt Trips to the Western Slopes of Colorado.

We started manufacturing lightweight, affordable snowshoes to serve the needs of hard-core hikers. Over the years we expanded our product line to include models for recreational folks and people who just want to stay active during the winter. We also developed snowshoes specifically designed for women and kids.

Testing R&D 

In 2016 we set up our testing facility in Grand Lake Colorado to gain access to the trail systems in Rocky Mountain National Park. This area provides a wide range of conditions from steep rocky terrain to deep powder meadows and abundant trails along the Colorado River. There’s even a local Golf Course we use test our products on wind-blown hard snow. 

Today all Summit products are constructed from the highest-grade materials, chosen for their strength, durability and long term performance. We oversee every aspect of manufacturing, assembly and packing to insure our products are consistently high quality and exceed industry standards.

Mission Control Center

Our Company is located in the heartland of Wisconsin where we are surrounded by lakes, rivers, hiking trails and endless outdoor opportunities. We have all of our gear on display in our retail store showroom in Madison where customers can touch and feel our products and take them for a spin on the trail system around our building.  

We also own a large state-of-the-art distribution center down in Belleville Wisconsin which handles world-wide shipping, warranty and the repair services for Summit Snowshoes. We stock replacement parts for every model which allow our customers to take care of their own crampon replacements and other repairs if needed.

At Summit we are committed to providing exceptional service and good customer care well beyond the warranty period. Our goal is to keep snowshoeing affordable and accessible to every person and to support the growth of this wonderful winter activity.
