Frame Design
The Alpha snowshoes are constructed with a one-piece aircraft aluminum frame. This model uses a smaller diameter extrusion which is a thicker wall 7071 grade material. This frame design is lighter weight and extremely strong for a more aggressive user. It has a lower profile with a tapered tail to move more efficiently across the snow.
Premium Flex-Deck
The Alpha models are built with a durable polyethylene deck material for extra strength and rebound in cold weather. The deck is attached to the frame with suspension straps which add some cushion when hiking on ice or hard snow. The tip and tail bumpers add some protection to the snowshoe frame when breaking a trail through the woods.
Upgraded Hardware
All Summit snowshoes are carefully assembled with aluminum and stainless-steel hardware which is much stronger and will never degrade or corrode from extended use. Most of the components are attached with nuts and bolts so they are easier to replace without special tools. We actually stock replacement parts for every model – call us for service.
Quick-Fit Bindings
The Alpha was engineered with a high-performance binding system made with a unique polyurethane sleeve which wraps more securely around your boots. The Quick-Fit closure system can be operated with one hand for easier entry and exit. This binding has a free hinging pivot bar on the underside which helps to keep the snowshoe level with the trail.
Posi-Track Crampons
This crampon is produced with incredibly strong carbon steel and powder coated to prevent corrosion. The teeth are narrower and sharp enough to bite into any type of snow condition. The side teeth improve the grip when traversing across steep terrain and add stability without adding weight. These crampons are dependable and easy to replace.
Free Storage Bag
This model includes a well-designed storage bag constructed with heavy Cordura nylon which is reinforced in the binding area. The bag is vented so your snowshoes will dry out quickly. We use heavy nylon webbing for carrying straps along with the adjustable shoulder strap. The 2-way zipper makes it easy to stow away your snowshoes after each use.
