Frame Design
The Explorer snowshoes are constructed with a one-piece aircraft aluminum frame. This model has beefed-up frame tubing using 6063 alloy material. The added strength of the frame allows this snowshoe to break through hard snow and challenging back country conditions. The frame shape has a wider profile to provide more floatation in deep snow.
Premium Flex Deck
The Explorer models are built with a durable polyethylene deck material for extra strength and rebound in cold weather. The deck is attached to the frame with suspension straps which add some cushion when hiking on hard snow and ice. The front of the deck is reinforced with higher grade material strong enough to break your own trails through the woods.
Upgraded Hardware
All Summit snowshoes are carefully assembled with aluminum and stainless-steel hardware which is much stronger and will never degrade or corrode from extended use. Most of the components are attached with nuts and bolts so they are easier to replace without special tools. We stock replacement parts for every model – call us for service.
ZE Lock Ratchet Binding
The Explorer series snowshoes are engineered with a stiffer base plate which adds strength and stability for hiking in challenging terrain. The EZ lock closure system has a wide range of adjustability and a ratchet buckle that’s easy to operate. The free hinging pivot bar is stainless steel and reinforced with Hypalon for added strength.
K-Nine Crampons
This aluminum crampon is a laser-cut design with large profile teeth which add grip for steep slopes. The side teeth help to prevent side slippage when traversing uneven terrain. The Hypalon deck straps allow the bindings to adapt and articulate for more stability. The heel crampon is laser-cut high grade aluminum which will add traction when climbing hills or breaking new trails.
Free Storage Bag
This model includes a well-designed storage bag constructed with heavy Cordura nylon which is reinforced in the binding area. The bag is vented so your snowshoes will dry out quickly. We use heavy nylon webbing for carrying straps along with the adjustable shoulder strap. The 2-way zipper makes it easy to stow away your snowshoes after each use.
